Travel Guide To Monterosso

Travel Guide Monterosso   HOW TO VISIT IN CINQUE TERRE AREA General Information About Monterosso Monterosso is the largest of the Cinque Terre villages, along the Ligurian coast in Northwest Italy, which makes it a good place to stay while you are in the area. Monterosso al Mare has numerous small hotels, many restaurants, a beautiful beach and easy access to the hiking trails, train service and ferry boats that unite this wonderful coastal collection of five quaint towns. Exploring Italy’s most remote and romantic stretch of Riviera, we visit five tiny port towns: dramatic Vernazza, surrounded by vineyards; reclusive Corniglia, high on its bluff; pastel Manarola; hardscrabble Riomaggiore; and the pint-sized resort of Monterosso. Fishing for anchovies, sipping wine out of rustic barrels, and savoring twinkling Mediterranean vistas, we enjoy the ultimate Riviera adventure.   First Action without any doubt is Cinque Terre Card Subscription https://italyprestige.rent/cinque-terre-card/     Cinque Terre Italy - Everything You Need To Know https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTzoa8FyByo   RESTAURANT SELECTION   BEST RATIO PRICE QUALITY RESTAURANTS IN MONTEROSSO . History

The village of Monterosso was probably founded by the survivors of the legendary Albareto, on the heights, destroyed by the Longobards (VII century). The settlement of the village occurred at the mouth of the stream Buranco around the ninth century. In the following centuries because of the Saracen invasions they were built along the entire coastal watchtowers against the danger of pirates. Some of these towers are still visible. The first document that refers to Monterosso dates back to 1056 under the rule of the Obertenghi; in the following centuries Monterosso and the Cinque Terre are a land of contention between Genoa and Pisa, 1254 Monterosso finally passes under the Genoese. In the twelfth century it begins the agricultural development of Monterosso: spread the cultivation of grain (in the countryside) and along the coast are carried downstream cultivated terraces protected by stone walls for the cultivation of the vine. The economy of the village was based on fishing, since 1600 there is news of a trap off Mesco the exploitation of which was the object of long standing disputes with the Republic of Genoa, on the cultivation of lemons and grapes (wine and sciacchetrà). The village has taken on, since the early '60s, thanks to a strong tourist beaches, crystal clear waters, the mild climate combined with a charming landscape have always been a destination of Italian and foreign tourism. Today there are in the ancient village and the waterfront Fegina hotels, restaurants, bars, beaches and many other services to tourists who make the capital of Monterosso in the Cinque Terre.
